I arrived in this fantastic country almost 8 years ago and time has been flying ever since.
The first thing that hits you in Malaysia is the heat / humidity and the smells–clove cigarettes, burning banana leaves (which have a distinctive odeur), and the aroma of numerous street vendors cooking excellent dishes such as Nasi Lemak (Fried Rice). At the same time you see a vibrant capital city (Kuala Lumpur), where you feel the pulse of business among the high rise buildings next to the beautiful Petronas Twin Towers.
The expatriate life is not only about food, adventures and beautiful beaches. Travelling to visit customers, building new business in far away markets, working with great people and finding some fantastic friends are key elements of a life as an expat at Uhrenholt.
With the technology development today, the world is getting smaller and smaller, we can call our customers, colleagues, family and friends on Skype or similar internet VOIP providers for free, anytime anywhere. You can talk daily with your colleagues at the HQ in Denmark or overseas, which makes our business and life much easier.
We have a great team spirit in the company: people are willing to help each other and if you show initiative and enthusiasm, people are willing to go the extra mile for you. When you are an expat you will realise how much you appreciate your colleagues / your back-up people back home–people that can untie the knots and make the impossible possible–that’s one of the reasons why I love being an expat.
